The mission.

BeWapp is an organization dedicated to promoting awareness and education around waste management and recycling.

To support this mission, BeWapp had developed a visual novel featuring a cast of characters, each representing a different method of waste sorting.

Looking to modernize this approach, BeWapp approached us with the idea of creating a short animated series, introducing each character in a 90-second clip.

The target audience? Primarily primary school children and young people — which meant we had the freedom to let our imagination run wild!

The creative proposal

As you can see in the images, the illustration style could also use a bit of a facelift.

While we could have stuck with the original design, we decided to make the visuals more engaging by giving the characters a fresh update for the animated series.

Thanks to strong sound design, a good dose of humor, and some epic music, the short clips were a real hit with our target audience — young people really embraced the creative approach.
BeWapp was, of course, very happy with the results.

Below, you can see the 2D version we created in 2023.

But we wanted to take things a step further!

The following year, BeWapp came back to us for a new set of campaign videos. Knowing how open-minded they are, we proposed an ambitious idea: transforming the character and animations into a full 3D animated series.

They loved the concept — and so we got to work! As we were also in the process of developing Lapino Animation Studios, this project was a perfect opportunity to put our skills to the test, even within some very tight budgetary constraints.
